The faculty of the Dental Assisting program accepts and believes the underlying philosophy of the Arkansas Department of Higher Education.
We believe that the practice of dental assisting is to assist in the maintenance of dental health and prevention of dental disease, in cooperation with dentists, hygienists, and other health professionals.
We believe that the faculty is responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating the learning experience which meets the objectives of the program.
We believe those persons in the practice of dental assisting should observe legal, ethical, and moral obligations while administering to the dental patient, and to perform the duties under the direction and supervision of the dentist, not performing activities that require the substantial specialized skill, judgment, or knowledge of the dentist.
We believe that learning takes place within the individual and brings about some behavioral change. The student learns best in an atmosphere that stimulates intellectual curiosity, clarifies concepts, and recognizes individual contributions and worth.
