UA-PTC Dental Assisting Program Mission Statement
The Dental Assisting program provides educational opportunities for students to perform at a high level as a dental assistant to meet the needs of the dentist, patients, and their community in the maintenance of dental health and prevention of dental disease.
About Our Program
The Dental Assisting program is one of two programs accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation and is recognized by the Arkansas State Board of Dental Examiners. The Dental Assisting program is a 9-month program that begins every August for students accepted into the program. It follows the regular school calendar with graduation in May.
There are two program options:
The Dental Assisting program is a day time only program. The Dental Assisting program is very rigorous, with students enrolled in 25 hours in the fall semester and 18 hours in the spring. Class times are Monday-Friday 8 a.m. - 3 p.m. with clinical hours in the spring following the clinical facility’s hours of operation.
