UA-PTC Reading Discipline Mission Statement
The mission of the Reading discipline at UA-PTC is to develop academic skills necessary for succeeding in college-level courses. The reading program provides an innovative and stimulating learning environment to help improve skills in deepening and refining ones abilities in critical thinking, and developing to their highest potential.
Reading Course Information
READ 0300. Foundations of Literacy
This course develops college-level literacy. It is designed to prepare students for academic readings across the disciplines.
Prerequisites: A COMPASS Reading Placement test score from 62 to 82, or an Accuplacer placement exam score from 55 to 77 on the Reading Comprehension, or an ACT placement exam score from 13 to 18 on the Reading section. This course requires an online learning component. The final grade will be A, B, C, or NC (no credit). This course does not apply toward degree requirements and is not included in the cumulative grade-point average. (3 credit hours)
