Program Eligibility
- US Citizenship or US Permanent Resident
- Admission into a degree program at UA-PTC in a STEM field
- An underrepresented racial or ethnic group in STEM: African Americans,
Hispanic Americans, American Indians, Alaska Natives, Native Hawaiians, and
Native Pacific Islanders
- GPA of at least 3.0
- ACT Score of at least 19
Incentives and Benefits
- $1,800 annual stipend
- Advising, mentoring, and tutoring that ensures academic success
- Assistance with transfer to a 4-year college/university
- Faculty-mentored and paid research experience
- Funded travel to present research
- Exposure to the STEM Community and STEM enrichment activities
- Interactions with LSAMP participants from other institutions
- Participation in transfer fairs to 4-year institutions
- Continued participation in the LSAMP Program if transferring to an LSAMP
4-year Institution
- Be well informed with 2+2 agreements between the UA-PTC and
participating 4-year institutions
- Gain skills and knowledge in writing a resume/curriculum vitae
- Gain skills and knowledge in applying for research internships
Required LSAMP Program Activities
- Attend scheduled regular monthly meetings
- Attend the annual Arkansas State-wide LSAMP Conference
- Participate in a STEM discipline-related event or activity each semester
- Participation in a service activity each semester (outreach, volunteer,
recruitment)
- Attend at least one transfer event to a 4-year college each semester
- Apply for internship/research experience each year
- Submit an annual updated Resume/CV
- Complete a participation and evaluation form when due
