Foundations and Strategy of Marketing

Facebook’s digital marketing course is designed to help small business owners and entry-level job seekers thrive in the modern age. Marketing allows companies to create impactful brand interactions at scale. As we deepen our relationships with the internet and our devices, there is more opportunity to communicate to customers online. Today over 50% of all marketing expenditure in the US goes digital marketing and this number is growing every year. In this course, you will be introduced to the world of digital marketing and how to create strategies that ensure you achieve your marketing goals. You will understand how to think about your customer, different channels you have available to you and how to measure and improve your marketing campaigns.

This course is a prerequisite to all other courses in the certificate program and required to acquire the Facebook Digital Marketing Certificate.

Course-Level Student Learning Outcomes

Students who successfully complete this course will:

  • Understand the role of marketing in the context of broader business operations and objectives.
  • Understand the market positioning and unique value proposition of a company and/or product.
  • Develop segmentation of customers and user personas.
  • Recognize the various online and offline marketing channels and rationale for marketing through each.
  • Understand key marketing metrics and the purpose of backwards planning and measurement of marketing efforts with respect to these objectives.
