GED Scholarship

Scholarship Amount

$1,500 awarded to approximately four first-time college students each year based on the availability of funds.

Eligibility

To qualify for the scholarship, you must:

  • Be a first-time college student. (If you have attended any post-secondary institution after completion of the GED, such as a college, university, vocational school, trade school, barber college, nursing school, or any other institution of higher education, including UA-PTC, you are not eligible for this award.)
  • Enroll in 12 or more hours at UA-PTC within one year of GED completion
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident
  • Have completed the GED examination at an adult education center in Lonoke, Pulaski, Saline, or Faulkner counties
  • Have earned the following qualifying score on the GED examination: 680 average score with at least a 170 score in each of the four subject tests

Renewal

The scholarship may be renewed for up to four semesters by maintaining the following:

  • 2.5 GPA after second semester
  • Enroll in 12 or more hours each semester at UA-PTC for fall and spring semesters

If you fail to meet the above criteria you will no longer receive the GED Scholarship

How to Apply

Step 1: Apply for admission to University of Arkansas - Pulaski Technical College within one year of completing of your GED.

Step 2: Submit your qualifying GED test scores as part of the admissions process. You may obtain an official copy of your GED score report at no charge from the Arkansas Department of Career Education.

Step 3: Complete the UA-PTC GED Scholarship Application.

Deadline

Fall semester applications must be submitted by July 1.

Summer Courses

This scholarship is not available during summer terms.
