Student Spotlight: Ms. Robbye Coop
Ms. Robbye Coop is a featured all-star student in the Learning Assistance Center (LAC). She is working to obtain her AA degree at UA-PTC to become an Alcohol and Drug Counselor. She has been a faithful and diligent student since Fall of 2019 and plans to graduate in Fall 2024.
Ms. Robbye has used the free tutoring service provided to all students with the Leaning Assistance Center. She says her study days were more manageable with the help of Terry Allmon-Conner, Lynn Strong, and Felicia Dokes. She goes on to state that the LAC tutors are patient. They break down the subject until it is understandable. They encourage her to take breaks when studying, and walking away from the problem sometimes gives clarity.
Depending on her class or homework, Ms. Robbye states she would come by LAC and receive the help she needs for a short visit or stay with the tutor during his or her entire shift if necessary. It depends on the amount of assistance needed.
Ms. Robbye's recommendations to UA-PTC students: "If you are having trouble with math, essays, and other subjects, the tutors will do all they can to guide you in the right direction. If they cannot help, they will try to find someone who can."
On March 3, Ms. Robbye turned 75 years old and said, "if she can do it, anyone can."
