The end of an era: Chancellor Margaret Ellibee retires
Dr. Margaret Ellibee, Chancellor of University of Arkansas Pulaski Technical College since August 1, 2012, stepped down from her role and into retirement on Friday, July 1.
Her departure marks the end of an era. Only the third person to lead the college since the 1991 formation of technical and community colleges in Arkansas, her legacy is one of innovation and adaptation to changing circumstances.
"Dr. Ellibee is a thoughtful and reflective expert on higher education policy and administration, but she is also very approachable and kind-hearted," said Interim Chancellor Ana Hunt. "Her kind servant leadership is key to her legacy."
Ellibee was at the helm for the opening of the new Culinary Arts and Hospitality Management Institute and Center for Humanities and Arts; the creation of our shared governance structure; led through a major re-accreditation process; and of course, saw the college merge with the with the University of Arkansas System Feb. 1, 2017.
"Margaret Ellibee has been exemplary leader for UA - Pulaski Tech," said University of Arkansas System President Dr. Donald R. Bobbitt. "She not only brought to the table a broad array of administrative and academic abilities and experience, but she also informed those qualities with a high degree of compassion and concern for the well-being of students. She will be missed."
Ellibee announced her retiring June 30.
Dr. Bobbitt on June 24 named Ana Hunt, Ed.D., as interim chancellor beginning July 1.
