UA-PTC boosts women in science and tech, hosts virtual event
UA - Pulaski Tech’s Women in STEM Conference, a free virtual event for young women considering careers in the STEM fields of science, technology, engineering, and math, will be held on Friday, Nov. 13, and will bring together educators, community professionals, and college students from across the state.
The conference includes breakout-sessions, panel discussions with local STEM professionals, networking opportunities, and continuing education credits. It takes place 9 a.m.-3 p.m. on Zoom. To register, or for more information, visit: www.uaptc.edu/women-in-stem.
College students and faculty from across the state are invited to attend, as well as local K-12 educators from Little Rock, North Little Rock, Pulaski County, Jacksonville-North Pulaski, and other school districts.
"It's encouraging to see so many women entering STEM fields, and it is our hope that by providing ways for students to network with successful women who work STEM-related careers, our students will see and aspire to greater career goals for themselves," said Dr. Richard Moss, director of UA - Pulaski Tech’s STEM Success initiative. "We want to expand their definitions of what's possible in career fields."
UA - Pulaski Tech’s STEM Success program is funded by a collaborative grant between the U.S. Department of Education and the Predominantly Black Institutions. The program’s long-range goal is to increase successful completion of STEM courses and degrees among African American female and male students.
