Culinary Community Education

University of Arkansas - Pulaski Technical College’s Community Education Program offers a variety of hands-on, non-credit culinary classes offered at the college's state-of-the-art Culinary Arts and Hospitality Management Institute (CAHMI) that are open to the public year around. Community Education Policies

Registration Requirements: Registration is required for all Community Education classes. To begin registration please click on the class title. To register by phone, please call Kristin Howell at (501) 907-6670 ext. 3407

Cancellation Policy: 100% refund if canceled at least 7 days before the class date. Cancellations occurring within 7 days of the class date will only receive a refund only if the class spot can be sold.

Community Education Class Enrollment Minimum Policy: In order to use teaching resources to their fullest, a Class Enrollment Minimum Policy is used to ensure that courses offered have a minimum number of enrolled students. Such a policy allows students to engage with a sufficient number of other learners in the classroom and also efficiently uses instructor time, thus facilitating the research and service portions of instructor obligations. In the event that a class is cancelled due to low enrollment, all registrants will receive a full refund.

Cook Like A Pro: Roast, Grill, Fry, and Sautee SOLD OUT

On this night, you will learn how to correctly employ dry-heat cooking techniques, focusing on sautéing, grilling, deep- and pan-frying, and roasting. Students will learn how o perfectly grill Sirloin Steak, Pan Fry Garlic Butter Shrimp, Sautee Mushrooms and Caramelized Onions, Deep Fry Squash, and Roast Herb Parmesan Hasselback Waffle Cut Potatoes. Eating Through the Classics - Community Education is proud to introduce a new 4-part series for kids in 5th - 12th grade that will meet on Saturdays, October 8 - October 29. Students will create themed menus inspired by famous characters. Classes in this series include, You’re, A Chef, Harry!, Nibbles from Narnia, Hungry for Hunger Games, and Charlie’s Chocolates. It is time to jump into the wizarding world with Pumpkin Pasties, Treacle Tart, Butterbeer, and Chocolate Frogs.

Cook Like A Pro - UA - Pulaski Tech teaches a 7-Part Cooking Series that will cover the culinary fundamentals sure to make you a pro in your own kitchen! Classes in this series include Basic Knife Skills and Butchery, Moist and Dry Heat Cooking Methods, Pasta and Cheese Making, Breads, and Desserts. There is nothing more delicious than fresh pasta, and making it yourself is much easier than you might think. Learn how to make the perfect pasta dough by hand, which can be the base for endless variations and shapes. Then, you will perfect flavorful, complementary sauces to pair with your handmade noodles. Renew your passion for pasta by learning the skills for making it from scratch, creating flavorsome, and satisfying new dishes.

Chef Kelli Marks breaks down how to decorate the perfect sugar cookie and make icing using a variety of techniques. Learn about icing, sprinkles, and everything you need to create edible works of art. Leave with a dozen holiday-themed decorated cookies. Please note: Due to time restraints this is a cookie decorating class, only. Cookies will be baked prior to the arrival of students. Cook Like A Pro - UA - Pulaski Tech teaches a 7-Part Cooking Series that will cover the culinary fundamentals sure to make you a pro in your own kitchen! Classes in this series include Basic Knife Skills and Butchery, Moist and Dry Heat Cooking Methods, Pasta and Cheese Making, Breads, and Desserts. In this fun, hands-on class, students will learn to make one type of dough and transform it into three different varieties of bread: Focaccia, Dinner Rolls, and Pizza. Start with the beloved, Italian focaccia. Learn essential recipes, then, add various ingredients to transform this side dish into a beautiful showstopper all on its own. Next, move to from-scratch dinner rolls that will be a delicious addition to your next feast or dinner party. Finally, the class will end with PIZZA! From the perfect crust to all of your favorite toppings. Learn how to make and bake the perfect pizza. Students will leave with all food made and recipes.
