UA-PTC Main Campus - North Little Rock

NEED HELP WITH REGISTRATION?

New Students: Schedule an appointment with an academic advisor

Schedule New Student Orientation (NSO): Online NSO | RSVP for in-person NSO

Current Students: Meet with your assigned faculty advisor

UA - Pulaski Tech prioritizes student access and success through a two-tiered advising system. Initially, first-time entering, undecided and transfer students meet with professional advisors who assist them in goal setting, career exploration, program of study (POS) selection, educational planning, and course selection. In the second semester and beyond, or once a POS is chosen, students are assigned a faculty advisor for ongoing guidance and registration assistance, through graduation.

Scheduling an advising appointment is recommended for students seeking assistance. Walk-in visits are also welcome, but please note that wait times can vary, especially during busy registration periods.

Preparing for an Advising Appointment

  • Be proactive. Consider your overarching goals, current interests, and future career path when selecting courses to guide you toward graduation. Remember, this is your education – your time, resources, and effort. Ultimately, it's your responsibility to ensure your course selections align with your objectives. Take ownership early to fully understand the requirements of your chosen program of study.
  • Be prepared. Before your meeting, take the time to write down specific questions or concerns you have. If you're meeting to discuss courses, a good starting point is to review the schedule of classes and develop a draft schedule with alternative selections.
  • Be honest. Be open to identifying and discussing any challenges you're facing. It’s then crucial for you to follow through on the plan you and your advisor develop together.
  • Be open. Be open to considering new ideas, even if they initially appear challenging.
  • Be assertive. Should you feel overwhelmed or face any trouble, reach out to your advisor for guidance. They can assist you in finding the support services you require; however, they can only help if you communicate your concerns.
  • Be respectful. Make the most of your advising appointment by paying close attention. If you need to cancel, please call ahead to arrange a new time, as your advisor's schedule is also very busy.
