UA–PTC Learning Outcomes Assessment Reporting Timeline
Institution
Institutional outcomes data should be captured annually. However, the college
will compile institutional data into a report on two (2) ILOs per year. For
example, Communication and Comprehensive Literacies will be assessed in even
years, and Critical Thinking and Cultural Awareness will be assessed in odd
years. The Assessment Coordinator will work with faculty and Assessment
Leadership to prepare the final annual report based on the data captured from
use of the value rubrics. Co-curricular outcomes data will be included in the
summative ILO reports. The ILO reports should be completed in by October 1 and
presented to the SLAC at the October or November meeting.
Programs
Programs are expected to report on a three-year cycle internally using the
form provided in the PLO Assessment section. Programs with specialized
accreditation may have a different schedule externally. The Arkansas Division of
Higher Education requires program reviews on a 7-10 year cycle for programs
without specialized accreditations, and the internal PLO reports will inform
those external reviews. The Provost’s Office will coordinate this schedule and
communicate annually with programs slated for review in a given year. Programs
due for review in a given year should submit program reports to the Assessment
Coordinator by May 15.
Courses
While it is expected that assessment data be captured within the Learning Management System (Blackboard Ultra) at the course level for all outcomes every semester a course is taught, faculty are expected to develop an appropriate cycle for reviewing the outcomes based on the number of outcomes available for that course. If appropriate, module-level outcomes data may be included in the course reports. By October 1 of each year, the faculty course leads must submit course assessment plans for course-level review to the Assessment Coordinator, Department Chair, and Dean. The data is then collected and evaluated in the fall and spring semesters, and this data should be used to inform budget presentations by January 15. A final summary of results, including strengths, weaknesses and expected changes is due to the Assessment Coordinator by May 15.
Five Level of Assessment (Assessment Framework)
1. Institutional (ILOs) - Broad skills all graduates should demonstrate upon completion.
2. Co-Curricular - Learning through advising, tutoring, student life, and support services outside the classroom.
3. Program (PLOs) - What students know and can do upon completing a specific program.
4. Course (CLOs) - What students know and can do upon completing a specific course.
5. Module (MLOs) - What students know and can do upon completing a specific unit within a course.
