UA-PTC highlights Future Fit program at statewide Restore Hope event

Chancellor Summer DeProw represented UA-PTC on the “Restoring Justice” panel Sept. 10 at the Restore Hope event supporting the Business and Industry Center’s Future Fit program as part of the Governor’s 10:33 initiative in Hot Springs.

The panel focused on key lessons learned from Arkansas’ 10:33 reentry pilot program and emphasized the importance of a coordinated statewide approach to supporting individuals transitioning from incarceration back into their communities.

The distinguished panel included Paul Chapman, Director of Restore Hope; Cortney Kennedy, Chief Legal Counsel to Governor Sanders; Lindsay Wallace, Secretary of Corrections; Dr. Summer DeProw, Chancellor of UA-PTC; and Cody Waits, Executive Director of Arkansas Workforce Connections.

Panelists explored how corrections, education, workforce development, government agencies, employers, and community organizations can work collaboratively to provide meaningful preparation prior to release, comprehensive support after release, and pathways to long-term success.

The conversation highlighted the pilot program’s achievements, challenges encountered during participant reentry, planned enhancements for 10:33 Version 2.0, and the vital role of community partnerships in expanding employment opportunities, promoting stability, and reducing recidivism.
