UA-PTC Students shine at 2025 Arkansas SkillsUSA competition

Students from the University of Arkansas - Pulaski Technical College demonstrated their talent and skill at the 2025 Arkansas SkillsUSA competition held in Hot Springs on April 16 and 17, bringing home 16 medals and, for the gold medalists, the opportunity to compete nationally.

Culinary Arts and Baking and Pastry students earned two gold, two silver, and one bronze award; the Automotive Technology program won one gold and one bronze award; Cosmetology won five gold awards; Architectural Drafting earned one silver award; and Automated Manufacturing Technology won three silver awards.

Dr. Angela Kremers, dean of the school of technical and professional studies, expressed her pride in the students' accomplishments. "We are pleased to see these talented students receive recognition for the skills and knowledge they have learned," she stated.

The following UA-PTC students were recognized for their outstanding achievements:

  • Sierra Ray (CAHMI): Gold Medal in Baking and Pastry Arts (Advancing to Nationals)
  • Austin Kelleybrew (CAHMI): Silver Medal in Baking and Pastry Arts
  • Cora Giddings (CAHMI): Bronze Medal in Baking and Pastry Arts
  • Karrington Cuningkin (CAHMI): Gold Medal in Culinary Arts (Advancing to Nationals)
  • Twanisha Killian-Graham (CAHMI): Silver Medal in Culinary Arts
  • Tiffany Hill (Tech Science): Gold Medal in Cosmetology Promotional Bulletin Board (Advancing to Nationals)
  • Madison Jones (Tech Science): Gold Medal in Cosmetology Promotional Bulletin Board (Advancing to Nationals)
  • Lydia Bohannan (Tech Science): Gold Medal in Cosmetology Promotional Bulletin Board (Advancing to Nationals)
  • Antonio Esparza (Tech Science): Gold Medal in Cosmetology Esthetics (Advancing to Nationals)
  • Emma Philpot (Tech Science): Gold Medal in Cosmetology Pin Design (Advancing to Nationals)
  • Herbert Beard (Tech Science): Gold Medal in Automotive Refinishing Technology (Advancing to Nationals)
  • Andersson Carrillo-Vasquez (Tech Science): Bronze Medal in Automotive Refinishing Technology
  • Maria Beza (Tech Science): Silver Medal in Architectural Drafting
  • Dallas Cherry (Tech Science): Silver Medal in Automated Manufacturing Technology
  • Elijah Fuell (Tech Science): Silver Medal in Automated Manufacturing Technology
  • Connor Teague (Tech Science): Silver Medal in Automated Manufacturing Technology

The gold medal winners have earned the opportunity to compete at the SkillsUSA National Championships, where they will face top students from across the United States and its territories.
