UA-PTC enrollment update shows 10.5% increase for Spring Semester following addition of 8-week term attendees

April 16, 2025

As a result of updated enrollment figures at the beginning of the college’s second 8-week Spring term, the University of Arkansas – Pulaski Technical College’s Spring 2025 headcount was up 10.5%, with 4,552 students, and credit hour registrations were up by 12.6%, at 46,885.

This updated increase in enrollment from 7.2% results from UA-PTC’s efforts to continue admitting, awarding financial aid, and enrolling students through March 19, resulting in 227 additional new students enrolling in UA-PTC’s second term 8-week courses.

The previous Spring term total student headcount was 4,325. Fall 2024 semester saw an overall 11.8% increase in enrollment, with 4,668 students.

“With two consecutive semesters showcasing over a 10% increase in students attending classes at UA – Pulaski Tech, we are seeing more students take advantage of the higher education and training programs we offer,” said Vice Chancellor of Enrollment Management and Student Life John Lewis. “Students have benefitted from the introduction of the more concentrated 8-week courses, which allow them to earn credit hours in ways that fit with their busy schedules. Adult learners with jobs and families have been particularly responsive to the more flexible option.”

Historically, UA-PTC’s enrollment has been 66% female and 33% male, with an average age of 26 and enrollment in over ten credit hours (three-quarter time) per student. Approximately one-third of UA-PTC’s students enroll to earn technical certificates and degrees designed to facilitate direct entry into the workplace in fields such as nursing and advanced manufacturing. Two-thirds enroll in Associate of Arts or Associate of Science curricula designed to satisfy requirements of the first half of a four-year degree. These students may transfer to UA Little Rock, UA Fayetteville, or many other four-year institutions in Arkansas. Specifically, UA-PTC graduates who transfer to UA Fayetteville or UA Little Rock pay the same tuition as UA-PTC, which yields substantial savings for students.

UA - Pulaski Tech’s enrollment includes students attending the college’s Main Campus in North Little Rock, Little Rock-South on Interstate 30, Aerospace Technology Center near the North Little Rock Airport, Business and Industry Center near the Little Rock Airport, online classes, and high school students taking concurrent college classes.
