Youth Baking, Culinary Camps registration opens Feb. 19
Registration for UA-PTC's ever-popular Youth Baking and Culinary Camps opens Saturday, February 19 at 8 a.m. The camps are sponsored and taught by the UA-PTC Culinary Arts and Hospitality Management Institute faculty.
Students ages 10 - 17 can register. The fee is $275 per session. Don't delay on registering- sessions fill up fast!

CAMP SESSIONS - Monday - Friday • 8 a.m. - 12 p.m.
• June 6 - 10 (Session 1)
• June 13 - 17 (Session 2)
• June 20 - 24 (Session 3)
• June 27 - July 1 (Session 4)
Level One camp must be taken before moving on to the next level.
Baking Camp Level I
In this weeklong camp, students will learn the basics of baking breads,
pastries, cakes, and confections. Scaling and organization in the kitchen will
also be taught.
Baking Camp Level II
Students will build on techniques learned in Level I, including croissants,
macarons, and plated desserts!
Cake Camp Level I
Students will learn to bake, fill, and frost cupcakes and celebration cakes.
Buttercream piping, fondant, and modeling techniques will be used so that
students can
create a variety of designs. The final project is a celebration cake that the
students will design using all their new skills!
Cake Camp Level II
Students will continue to develop their piping and sugar modeling skills.
Students will work on techniques and decorations to create royal iced sugar
cookies, sugar
flowers, and a final project for an inter-camp Youth Chef Culinary Camp Sugar
Art Show!
Culinary Camp Basics (formerly Level I)
Students will learn the fundamentals of culinary arts and baking as they work
through different stations to create different a variety of menus. Knife skills,
basic
cooking techniques, breads and desserts are covered, along with sanitation,
teamwork, organization, and leadership skills.
NEW CAMPS – Culinary II and III camps will not be offered this year. Instead, students can choose among four options after completing Culinary Basics (Culinary I). These options are for campers between the ages of 10-17. Also new, we are offering a Cake Camp aimed for younger campers, Ages 6-9 years old.
Caking it with Kids (Ages 6-9)
Students will practice buttercream piping techniques and simple fondant decor to
decorate cookies, cupcakes, and finish with a fun and trendy character cake.
Culinary Camp Continental Cuisine (formerly Level II)
Students will continue to hone their knife skills and learn advanced
fundamentals of cooking and baking while they taste the cuisines of Europe,
North America,
South America, Asia, and Africa.
Culinary Camp Cook the Book
Students will create themed menus inspired by Harry Potter, Narnia, Charlie and
the Chocolate Factory, as well as other famous books and characters.
Culinary Camp Cookout
Students will learn about the four styles of BBQ in the United States and the
basics of grilling and smoking, along with popular side dishes.
Culinary Camp Molecular Gastronomy
Students get to explore the scientific principles to food preparation to produce
innovative dishes using modern techniques and ingredients.
