Upcoming Exhibit: More Than Deliverables by Katie and Jonathan Childs - May 23 - Sept. 5

More Than Deliverables is a collection that spans both commissioned and personal work. The couple explains, “In the world of client work, everything has a purpose: a deadline, a target audience, a list of deliverables. But behind every assignment is a person, an artist, making creative choices, finding beauty in constraints, and bringing something human to the brief.”

This exhibition explores the balancing of their client’s goals with their own creative impulses, as they construct a body of images that represent “what it looks like to be a working artist. Not just creating for yourself, and not just creating for others, but building a body of work that lives in between.” (Jonathan and Katie Childs, artist statement)

UA-PTC will host a closing reception on Thursday, September 4, 5-7 pm.

About the Artists:

Katie Childs runs the popular photography studio Katie Childs Photo, based in Little Rock. She was voted Arkansas Times Best Photographer (2023 and 2024).

Jonathan Childs teaches Digital Media Production courses at UA-PTC and has an MFA in Filmmaking from UCA.

In addition to their professional work, they also create independent projects.

Gallery Information: Admission to the Windgate Gallery is free and open to the public. Regular gallery hours are Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The gallery is closed on weekends. The Windgate Gallery is located inside the college’s Center for Humanities and Arts (CHARTS) building on the Main Campus.

Artist Submissions

Artists interested in exhibiting in the Windgate Gallery are encouraged to complete the online Exhibit Proposal form below. Submissions will be reviewed by Kim Kwee, Associate Teaching Professor of Art and Curator of Exhibits.
