UA – Pulaski Tech to host business-focused Black History Month panel discussion Tuesday, Feb. 24
University of Arkansas - Pulaski Technical College will host a special Black History Month panel discussion exploring the intersection of business, community, and leadership on Tuesday, Feb. 24.
The event will take place from 11 a.m. to noon in the CHARTS Theater on the UA-PTC Main Campus at 3000 West Scenic Drive. A public reception will precede the discussion at 10 a.m. in the CHARTS lobby. The event is free and open to the community.
The panel features three distinguished leaders from the fields of public health, entrepreneurship, and education:
About the panelists
Dr. Quinyatta Mumford, DrPH, CHES® is a public health practitioner and educator. Dr. Mumford is the CEO of Village Public Health and Executive Director of the Village Public Health Training Center. Known as “The Village Public Health Doc,” her work focuses on advancing youth wellness and health equity through initiatives like the Vibe Safe Initiative and the Vibe Check Tour. She previously served as the first epidemiologist at the Arkansas Department of Health to address childhood lead exposure and currently serves as an MPH assistant professor, bridging the gap between clinical research and real-world community impact.
Anika Dixon is a real estate broker, entrepreneur, and nonprofit founder with more than 20 years of experience in property management, business development, and community leadership. She is the Owner and Principal Broker of Goss Management & Realty in Little Rock, Arkansas, where she has grown the firm from a small operation into one of Central Arkansas’s leading residential property management companies, overseeing more than 1,000 units and millions in sales.
In 2020, Anika founded SHEBuild, Inc., a nonprofit dedicated to empowering justice-impacted women through housing, workforce development, and mentorship. Known for her strategic leadership and results-driven approach, Anika combines business expertise with a deep commitment to economic empowerment, helping individuals and communities build sustainable futures.
Professor Mayo Johnson, moderator, is a native of Little Rock and Professor of Computer Science at UA-PTC since 2001. Johnson previously served as chairman of the college’s Cultural Diversity and Community Involvement Committee and chaired the Little Rock Racial and Cultural Diversity Commission, where he led policy development to ensure city boards reflected the diversity of the community. Johnson has moderated significant community forums on race and culture, including the 50th Anniversary of the desegregation of Little Rock Central High School.
