
Celebrate Second World Science Day at UA - Pulaski Tech on Nov. 7
The UA-PTC Department of Science invites faculty, staff, students, and the community to attend the Second World Science Day Celebration on Friday, Nov. 7, 2025, from noon to 3 p.m. in the CHARTS Building Performance Studio, Room 208. This event is dedicated to demonstrating the critical role of scientific inquiry and highlighting the valuable contribution to the body of scientific knowledge by UA-PTC students and faculty.
Investing in scientific research and promoting science education is paramount to ensuring a prosperous and sustainable future, driving essential advancements in healthcare, technology, and environmental sustainability. Brief highlights of contributions of the Science Faculty to scientific knowledge will be presented.
Featured Keynote Address
The celebration will feature a distinguished presentation by Dr. Aiwei Yao Borengasser, Professor of Anatomy and Physiology. Her keynote, titled "One Body, Many Links: Obesity, Diabetes, Breast Cancer, and the Role of Fibrosis," will explore the complex physiological interconnections of these major public health concerns. This address offers significant insight into contemporary biomedical research.
A core component of the afternoon will be the Student Research Presentations, featuring 5-minute oral rapid presentations. This segment showcases research at UA-PTC, with students presenting their findings under the guidance of their faculty mentors: Assistant Professor Mr. Cyrus Marbaniang (mentoring Mai Ngoc Ngan Tam); Associate Professor Mr. Ben Rains (mentoring Sydnie Sikora); Associate Professor Dr. George Lauster (mentoring Marely Mancilla, Khoi Nguyen Nguyen, Kendall Green, Anna Whitmore, and Tam Mai); and M. M. Matute (mentoring Gabriel Parham, Chloe Smith, Bradley Johnson, Tekoia Thompson, and Braun Livingston).
“We encourage all members of the college and local scientific community to attend and support these emerging researchers,” said Full Professor Dr. M. M. Matute.
