Where It Leads, an exhibit of drawings by Clark Valentine, opens Friday, Feb. 7, 2025 at the Windgate Gallery on the UA – Pulaski Tech Main Campus in North Little Rock.
The show, featuring the work of the University of Arkansas at Little Rock’s newest assistant professor of drawing, runs through March 28. Valentine, a 26-year-old native of Colorado Springs, Colorado, joined UA Little Rock’s School of Art and Design last year, bringing a wealth of experience to the university.
Valentine explores the experience of mark-making in drawing and the balance between the body and the mind. His process is repetitive and meditative, inviting a contemplative awareness from the viewer. He is passionate about nurturing creative talent and developing collaborative partnerships, and is eager to work with students at UA Little Rock.
Prior to joining UA Little Rock, Valentine taught at Colorado State University, the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs, and Front Range Community College in the areas of drawing, painting, and foundations. He earned an associate degree in studio art from Pikes Peak Community College, a Bachelor of Arts degree in visual and performing arts from the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs, and a Master of Fine Arts degree in visual arts with a concentration in drawing from Colorado State University.
A public reception for Where It Leads will be held Feb. 20 from 5-7 p.m. in the gallery and CHARTS lobby.
