Dr. Richard Moss selected to participate in prestigious Rutgers Center leadership program
Dr. Richard Moss, Dean of the School of Fine Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences at the University of Arkansas – Pulaski Technical College, has been selected to participate in the Rutgers Center for Minority Serving Institutions (CMSI) Aspiring Leaders program.
The CMSI program is designed to develop the next generation of leaders at Minority Serving Institutions (MSIs) by providing them with the knowledge and skills necessary for success in higher education administration.
Dr. Moss brings a wealth of experience to the program. As Dean, he oversees four academic departments. He previously served as the Director of the college's Title III Predominantly Black Institutions program, where he spearheaded initiatives to improve student retention and graduation rates, particularly in STEM fields.
Beyond his academic leadership, Dr. Moss is an active member of his community. A member of Phi Beta Sigma, he currently serves as the Director of the Southwestern Region’s Leadership Academy. He serves as a City Council member in Jacksonville, Arkansas, and holds board positions at Treatment Homes, Inc. and Arkansas Lighthouse Charter Schools. He previously chaired the Jacksonville Chamber of Commerce.
Dr. Moss holds a Ph.D. in Public Policy with a focus on education policy from the University of Arkansas. He also earned a Master of Public Administration and a Bachelor of Science in Political Science from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Central Arkansas.
The CMSI Aspiring Leaders program will provide Dr. Moss with valuable mentorship and professional development opportunities as he prepares for future leadership roles within higher education.
The CMSI Aspiring Leaders program is a two-year initiative that connects aspiring leaders at MSIs with experienced mentors. The program covers a range of topics critical to successful higher education leadership, including fundraising, strategic planning, and crisis management.
