UA – Pulaski Tech adopts new “Diamond Dogs” mascot
University of Arkansas Pulaski Technical College has adopted its first mascot in its long history, The Diamond Dogs.
The mascot was revealed to the assembled College faculty and staff at the annual UA-PTC Convocation, marking the new 2023-24 academic year.
The mascot’s symbolism evokes multiple layers of imagery: the college’s North Little Rock “Dogtown” roots, Arkansas’ association as the “diamond state,” and the diamond-shape integral to the college’s current and former logos.
“Our students are tough as diamonds and doggedly determined to improve their lives through education and technical training,” said Chancellor Summer DeProw. “While part of the mascot is pure fun, it also helps UA-PTC cultivate a welcoming environment where people feel seen, respected, and appreciated.”
The mascot initiative was a long-term project spearheaded by the UA-PTC Registrar, Ashley Henry-Saorrano, and UA-PTC Director of Admissions, Kyanna Beard. Working closely with input from students, faculty, staff, and the college marketing department, the project took more than three years to complete, from conception to development, design, trademark, and final presentation.
