Dr. John Lewis to begin a new role as UA-PTC Vice Chancellor of Enrollment Management and Student Life

June 16, 2023

Dr. John Lewis will become the new Vice Chancellor of Enrollment Management and Student Life at the University of Arkansas Pulaski Technical College beginning June 16.

Since July 2018, his position has been UA-PTC Dean of Admissions and Financial Aid. Additionally, he has served as an adjunct professor for UA-PTC since January 2022.

The new executive position will provide leadership and vision for the college’s overall strategy in recruiting, admitting, and supporting the student body.

“UA – Pulaski Tech is in a unique position to serve the educational and workforce needs of our community,” Dr. Lewis said. “I am eager to work toward providing better access to our services and to help ensure that all UA-PTC students enjoy the best possible experience.”

Dr. Lewis will provide executive leadership for the following college units:

  • Recruitment
  • Admissions
  • Financial Aid
  • Public Relations and Marketing
  • Career Coach and Jobs for America’s Graduates (JAG) Program
  • Career Pathways Program
  • TRIO, Student Support Services, and Veterans Upward Bound programs
  • Veteran’s Services
  • Student Life and Wellness

“This decision was inspired by the work of the Strategic Planning Core Team,” said Chancellor Summer DeProw. “Dr. Lewis’s knowledge of financial aid, information systems, recruitment, admissions, and federal and state policies makes him an ideal choice for the Vice Chancellor of Enrollment Management and Student Life position.”

As a first-generation college student, Dr. Lewis attended Iowa State University before moving to Arkansas. After completing his bachelor of science and master’s in public administration from Arkansas State University, he served as director of financial aid at the University of Arkansas Community College at Batesville and the University of Tennessee Health Science Center. He earned a graduate certificate in community college teaching and leadership and his doctorate in higher and adult education at the University of Memphis. His dissertation focused on how institutional characteristics impact student customer service-related activities. Dr. Lewis also previously served as a faculty member and director of financial aid at Christian Brothers University.
