DeAnn Smith Named Program Director of UA – Pulaski Tech Cosmetology
UA-PTC recently named DeAnn Smith the new Program Director of Cosmetology. She replaces Scottie Burchett who recently retired after serving 19 years as Director.
As DeAnn takes the helm, she brings with her extensive experience teaching at the secondary career technical education and post-secondary levels. She also brings experience as a business owner of a salon since 2006. She previously worked at UAMS in an operations role.
“I am honored and appreciative of this opportunity,” said Smith. “I'm excited to see all the great things that will be happening in the UA-PTC Cosmetology Program.”
The Program Director of Cosmetology supports students, faculty, and staff of the Cosmetology Program at UA-PTC and is responsible for the effective and efficient operations of the Cosmetology Program. The program is accredited and licensed by the Cosmetology Section of the Arkansas Department of Health and teaches students all that is required to successfully pass the National Cosmetology licensure exam. The cosmetology industry employs personal appearance workers including hair stylist assistants, cosmetologists, estheticians, makeup artists, manicurists, and pedicurists. The program is located at UA-PTC Little Rock-South.
