
Dr. Summer DeProw selected as Provost at UA-PTC
UA - Pulaski Tech has selected Dr. Summer DeProw as the college’s Provost. DeProw will provide senior administrative leadership for academic instruction. She begins work at the position on Sept. 7.
Dr. DeProw’s current position is Assistant Vice Chancellor for Assessment and Accreditation at Arkansas State University. She has been with Arkansas State for six years and started as the Director of Assessment. She was promoted to Assistant Vice Chancellor after two years in the Director’s position. Her responsibilities included Higher Learning Commission Accreditation Liaison Officer; General Education, program, and co-curricular student-learning assessment; continuous improvement program review for 65 non-programmatic accredited programs; and support for programmatic accreditation for 70 programs. Her portfolio of duties also included the A-State Testing Center and Academic Affairs representative to the Faculty Handbook Committee.
Dr. DeProw believes in both professional and community service. She serves as Peer Corp member for the Higher Learning Commission; mentor and Center Champion for the A-State Women’s Leadership Center; Talent Taskforce Committee Chair for Jonesboro Unlimited Economic Development; and advisory board member for the School of Education at the University of Mississippi.
Her academic career began at Williams Baptist University where she was the Business Department Chair and later Associate Professor of Business. Dr. DeProw continues to mentor and correspond with the students she served for 18 years.
Dr. DeProw earned her PhD in Higher Education from the University of Mississippi where she was honored with the 2014 Outstanding Doctoral Student award. Additionally, she earned her BS in Accounting, MBA, and Specialist in Community College Education from Arkansas State.
“I am thrilled to join the UA - Pulaski Tech family” said DeProw. “I am looking forward to working with the faculty, staff, students, and community to grow our current programs, develop new programs, and serve the Central Arkansas community and industry. UA - Pulaski Tech is in a great position to mentor and develop emerging leaders and I can’t wait to get started.”
DeProw was the successful candidate among those that UA-PTC’s 10-member search committee interviewed for the job. The committee was made up of faculty and staff members, administrators, and Faculty and Staff Senate presidents.
“The search committee and I were very impressed with Dr. DeProw’s experiences in higher education, particularly in her roles in accreditation and learning assessment. I am confident that her talents and experience will contribute very positively to the success of our students,” said UA - Pulaski Tech Chancellor Margaret Ellibee.
