UA - Pulaski Tech hires Bill Ryan in technical and professional dean position

William (Bill) Ryan joined University of Arkansas Pulaski Technical College as Dean of the School of Technical and Professional Studies July 1.

Ryan’s most recent position was Instructor of Construction Technology/Carpentry and Historic Preservation Technology at Montana Technological University in Butte, Montana. Ryan also served as Associate dean at the college for three years and department chair of Trades and Technical department for seven years prior to his associate dean appointment. He works as a corporate trainer, curriculum consultant, and is a HUD inspection designer for Nan McKay and Associates, conducting Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Federal Housing Quality Standards and Housing Inspector training. He owns and operates Ryan Rental LLC, a property development and management firm. Ryan also owns Montana Contracting and Consulting which provides general contracting services, construction management services, and workforce education curriculum and course development.

He joins UA-PTC to provide academic administration over technical and occupational programs including Business and Information Technology, Culinary Arts and Hospitality, and Technical Sciences, such as advanced manufacturing, aerospace, and welding technologies. He will also provide administrative leadership for the UA-PTC Business and Industry Center, which provides customized non-credit education and training to support the state economy.

“I am looking forward to working with the great faculty at UA – Pulaski Tech to ensure that we continue to meet the workforce needs of central Arkansas,” said Ryan. “UA-PTC is a dynamic institution with a lot of momentum, and we’re going to keep working hard to build programming in both college credit and non-credit education.”

He is a Journeyman Carpenter through registered apprenticeship (4 years and 8000 hours of training) with experience as a foreman, job-site superintendent, project manager, construction manager, and business owner. Ryan attained an A.A.S. Carpentry at University of Montana in 2012; an Associate of Science at Montana Tech in 2014; a Bachelors of Applied Science, Management and Organizational Communication at Montana State University, Billings, in 2014; and an Interdisciplinary Master of Science: Master of Project Engineering Management and Technical Communication at Montana Tech in 2016. He is currently pursuing his Doctor of Education in Higher Education Leadership -Career and Technical Education at University of Montana, with completion expected in 2021.
