Parker Named Outstanding Alumnus at UA - Pulaski Tech
University of Arkansas - Pulaski Technical College has selected Lennon Parker of Sherwood, Arkansas as the recipient of the 2018 Outstanding Alumnus Award. Parker will be recognized at the Arkansas Community Colleges (ACC) awards brunch on Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at the Marriott in Little Rock.
Lennon graduated from UA - Pulaski Tech in 2004 with an Associate of Applied Science in Computer Information Systems. After graduation, he was hired full-time as UA-PTC’s Digital Communication Specialist. He has received national awards through the years for his work and most recently received international recognition for UA-PTC’s Virtual Reality Tour, which was ranked among the top in the country along with the Library of Congress, Georgetown University, and UCLA. In 2007, seeing the need for staff to have a voice on campus, Lennon established the college’s Staff Senate. The first successful initiative of the Senate, which is still in effect today, was the campus bookstore scholarships which provides books and supplies to UA - Pulaski Tech employees. He is a past recipient of the annual UA-PTC Staff Award for service excellence, a certified customer service trainer and a prolific speaker who has keynoted at SAU Tech’s 2007 Convocation and at SEARK in 2016 speaking on internet security. Lennon gives back to the community by making public appearances as Iron Man in hopes of bringing a smile to a sick child, raising money for a worthy cause, or offering a photo op to remind us all that superheroes are around us every day.
UA - Pulaski Tech's Outstanding Alumnus Award recognizes the educational and career achievements of UA-PTC alumni, their success as leaders in their professional field and the impact they have had and will continue to have on society and their profession. The award recipients are considered outstanding role models for current students.
