1. Why campus involvement is important?
Participation on campus is crucial for several reasons. First, it gives students many chances to improve their college experience and personal development. Being a part of TRIO, I participated in many workshops designed to help students financially, mentally, and in academia. Overall, getting involved on campus has many advantages beyond the classroom. TRIO provides resources in the program that are designed to help students in the future, such as campus tours from different universities around the state. In addition to providing a well-rounded college experience, it enables students to develop individually, form a network, acquire critical skills, and leave a lasting impression.
2. How did UA-PTC create a sense of belonging?
The University of Arkansas - Pulaski Tech created a sense of belonging by providing a close-knit family-oriented environment. Even though the university is a two-year institution, there are still ways of finding a sense of belonging throughout the university. I met faculty who have played a significant role during my collegiate years and want to see me succeed. While at UA-PTC, I participated in work-study for the TRIO Department. These services offer and provide some of the extra support I need to pursue my academic studies. Being a student plus a work-study student, the entire TRIO staff ensured I could succeed in scholarly and enhance my personal development by assisting prospects and current students in enhancing their experience throughout the college.
3. Advice for current or future students at UA-PTC?
College life may be challenging, with many duties and commitments. To combine your academic work, extracurricular activities, social life, and self-care, learn efficient time management techniques. TRIO has taught me how to manage college properly. I could ask any of the TRIO staff questions, and they tried to get me the correct answers. These resources can offer invaluable help and support in various areas of your college experience. In addition, you will be more focused and motivated throughout your college career if you have clear goals. Setting goals with the faculty of TRIO has made my entire college experience at UA-PTC effortless.
