Haihong (Helen) Hu is the Director of the Center for Excellence in Teaching &
Learning (CETL) at the University of Arkansas Pulaski Technical College
(UA-PTC). Before Helen came to UA-PTC, she was an Associate Professor and
Director of the Educational and Student Success Center (ESSC) at the University
of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS). Previously, Helen taught as an
Associate Professor in the Instructional Technology program at the University of
Central Arkansas (UCA), and she worked at UCA for 10 years. Helen earned her PhD
in Instructional Systems, with an emphasis in Instructional Technology Theory
and Practice, Distance Education, and Technology Integration, from the Florida
State University in 2007. My research interests are in Online Teaching and
Learning, Learning Strategies, and Technology Integration.
In recent years, Helen has conducted studies and published in the areas of
learning strategies for distance education, technology integration for K-12
reading and STEM teaching, and teacher technology education. Helen serves on
various committees on the college, or university level at her institutions or in
the state of Arkansas, and she volunteers at several professional organizations,
e.g., Association for Educational Communications and Technology (AECT), American
Educational Research Association (AERA), and Society for Information Technology
& Teacher Education (SITE), as a reviewer, a session chair, or division board
member. Helen is also a reviewer for several educational technology journals.
Helen is glad that she will have this opportunity to work with all faculty
members on enhancing our teaching and learning at UA-PTC using the Quality
Matters standards and various other technologies and strategies. Helen is
