What is an Academic Advisor?
Your point of contact for:
- Help setting educational and career goals.
- Discussing ACCUPLACER scores, degree plans, and degree/certificate options.
- Registering for the 1st semester courses.
What is a Faculty Advisor?
- During the 1st semester, you will have a faculty advisor assigned to you based on your program of study.
- If you’re unsure about your educational path or goals, make sure you utilize your faculty advisor’s expertise!
- Your assigned faculty advisor can be found in your Blackboard shell, within the Campus Portal.
What happens during an Advising Session?
- Discuss your “end goal” for your education and career and make a plan
- Go through your degree plan checklist
- Register for classes
- Make sure you enroll in all of the courses you need for your first semester
PLEASE COME PREPARED!
Take a look at your degree plan ahead of time, so that you are familiar with what is required. Degree plans are available at www.uaptc.edu/earn-a-degree.
Degree Options
Associate of Science (AS) or Associate of Arts (AA)
- General TRANSFER degree
- 2+2 Transfer Agreements w/AR colleges
Associate of APPLIED Science (AAS)
- NOT designed to transfer, but some classes may. Career-specific degree designed to go directly into the workforce.
Technical Certificates or Certificates of Proficiency
- Designed for workforce qualifications. Can be “stacked” on the way to your AAS.
