According to Rolling Stone Magazine, 2019 is a milestone for the first family of Southern rock, marking the 50th anniversary of the Allman Brothers Band but also the 30th anniversary of Devon Allman and Duane Betts first playing together. Devon is the son of the late Gregg Allman and Duane’s father is Dickey Betts, both founding members of the Allman Brothers Band. Together with Berry Duane Oakley, the son of founding ABB bassist Berry Oakley, the group is playing a lengthy tour of more than 60 theater dates across the country as well as 10 major festivals, including Mountain Jam in Bethel, New York, and Ramblin’ Man Fair in the United Kingdom. The new ABB will also include slide guitar virtuoso John Stachela and percussionists R. Scott Bryan (Sheryl Crow) and John Lum.
Their tour celebrates the release of a new album. The new album, slated for release on June 28, 2019, was recorded at the legendary Muscle Shoals Sound Studios and produced by Matt Ross-Spang (Jason Isbell, Margo Price, John Prine and Elvis Presley). Former Allman Brothers Band keyboardist and current Rolling Stones keyboardist, Chuck Leveall, and former Greg Allman Band Hammond B3 player, Peter Levin, both guested on the record. The band’s worldwide tour will feature new music, songs from their solo projects, and classic Allman Brothers and Gregg Allman.
Additionally, Brotherhood of Light, the "original San Francisco psychedelic show" will be providing visuals and lighting for the evening. Brotherhood of Light has worked with the Allman Brothers Band, Grateful Dead, Jefferson Airplane, Jimi Hendrix, The Doors, Led Zeppelin, and the Who, among many others.
