UA-PTC students win big at 2017 Skills competition
UA- Pulaski Tech students and students at the Saline County Career Center brought home 18 medals from the Arkansas SkillsUSA State Leadership and Skills Championship in Hot Springs, including 8 gold, 5 silver and 5 bronze medals.
Many of the college-level gold winners will now advance to national competition this summer.
The two-day event held in April at the Hot Springs Conference and Convention Center brought together hundreds of students who competed in events testing their academic and technical knowledge, ability and leadership skills in various technical career fields.
Postsecondary gold and silver medalists may be eligible to receive tuition and regular fee waivers to use at UA-PTC in the semester following their win.
Students from the UA-PTC's Culinary Arts and Hospitality Institute School won five medals - taking home gold and silver medals in Culinary Arts and sweeping the Commercial Baking category for a second year with gold, silver and bronze wins.
In the Technical Sciences Division, the Power Sports Technology competition team won gold for the fourth consecutive year, and Motorcycle Service Technology team won gold for the third year in a row.
Students from the Saline County Career Center competed in both the college-level and high-school level competitions. Congratulations to the following students:
