Big Rock on the Map to host talk with "Antiquities" writer and producer

UA-PTC's Center for Humanities and Arts will host a talk on Tuesday, April 18, with Graham Gordy, the co-writer, and Gary Newton, producer, of the upcoming Arkansas-made film "Antiquities."

The event begins at 6 p.m. in The Center for Humanities and Arts (CHARTS) Theater on the Main campus. The event is free and open to the public.

The evening is part of the college's Big Rock on the Map Series, which brings writers, actors, artists, musicians, and professionals from all art disciplines to campus to foster appreciation and understanding of the arts. Gordy previously visited UA-PTC to discuss his work as co-creator of Cinemax's TV show "Quarry." On April 18, he and Newton will discuss the origins of the "Antiquities" and its prospects for the future.

The story revolves around a young man named Walt who moves to his dad's hometown to learn more about who his father was. He accepts a job in a local antique mall where his boss quickly offers him the possibility of a management position; however, a mean-spirited co-worker, tries to sabotage any chance Walt has. Walt then meets Ellie, an eccentric and crude free spirit who still manages to be irresistibly charming. He finds himself completely enamored, though hesitant to pursue a relationship with her because of a secret that only he knows. Walt ends up not only finding out who his father really was, but learns more about himself.
